Research

Pediatric Associates of Northern Kentucky is pleased to be participating in a variety of research studies to advance the health of children. These studies may include vaccine studies, medication studies or epidemiologic studies. Our goals in offering these studies are:
1. To improve child health by assisting in new vaccine development. This may include a vaccine against an illness which there was previously no vaccine, or it may include a combination vaccine which decreases the number of shots that need to be given. The FDA mandates that every new vaccine, even if it is just a new combination of previous vaccines, must be rigourously tested to ensure safety and effectiveness. Our office research helps to bring these products to the market.
2. To increase availability and safety of medications for children. 3. To increase knowledge of pediatric diseases.

Each study we participate in is carefully chosen by our doctors. These studies are also reviewed by independent review boards. We follow FDA and Good Clinical Practice guidelines. A committee of our doctors, nurses and administration meets every 2 weeks in our office to review new studies and discuss progress on current studies.

Participation in these studies is strictly voluntary and is generally limited to healthy children. All vaccines in these studies are provided by the sponsor. Compensation is given for study visits for time and travel. Each study is carefully reviewed by our doctors before we begin enrollment.

If you are interested in finding out more about the current studies, you can contact our research coordinators at 344-2881. We are also interested in knowing which families would like to be contacted about new studies as they begin. If you would like to be added to our list of families who would like information about studies, please call us at the above number and leave your name and phone number.
