Dr. Shelly Voet was recognized as the 2024 Cincinnati Pediatric Society Outstanding Community Physician! Dr. Voet's award recognizes a pediatrician in our region, "Who has given distinguished service in the advancement of child care in the Greater Cincinnati pediatric community." Dr. Voet works with the public health departments in NKY, and also serves as the Executive Community Physician Leader for Cincinnati Children's Hospital leading a group of community-based pediatricians who work closely with Cincinnati Childrens to ensure we all work together for the best care for all children in our area. Over the course of her career, Dr. Voet has been involved in many committees and projects that have improved the health of patients in our region. A few examples include work to improve and standardize how we deliver care to children with asthma and mental health challenges including depression and anxiety. She was instrumental in Pediatric Associates being recognized as a Patient Centered Medical Home, and also as a regional leader helping pediatricians and local practices navigate the many challenges associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. Dr. Voet was recognized for her dedication to her patients and their families, the children of Northern Kentucky and Cincinnati, and to teaching the next generation of pediatric providers.
This month also marks Dr. Voet's 25 year anniversary with PANK! We are very proud of Dr. Voet and all she has accomplished and hope you will join us in congratulating her for all of her work here at Pediatric Associates and in our community.

Construction Again?
Yes, we are doing additional work in our Crestview Hills Down Under office. Our Behavioral Health division has grown and to accommodate these important services we are adding and moving some walls to better accommodate this need. Please pardon the plastic barriers and construction sounds as we improve our facility to better meet your needs.

Patient Portal Messaging
During office hours we are happy to have our clinical team available to take calls and answer questions. Sometimes these non-urgent questions come up outside of office hours or the question is one that does not require an immediate answer. When this happens you can now send us clinical questions via the patient portal. These messages will only be responded to during office hours so they are not for urgent issues. Some things we may be able to answer in a message and some we may give you a call to discuss. This is just one more way for us to help partner in the health of your child. If you do not already have a patient portal set up and want to set it up please follow these
instructions and links
on our website.

Spring Allergies
Do your children suffer from spring allergies? If so, now is the time to think about starting those daily allergy medications. We see pollen counts in our area start to rise in March, and many of the allergy prevention medications may take at least 2 weeks to become effective. While medication can help relieve symptoms, they don’t stop the body’s immune response to allergens. Here are some other tips to minimize allergy symptoms:
1. Keep windows closed when counts are higher.
2. Rinse off or shower head-to-toe to remove pollen after spending time outdoors.
3. Use HEPA filters in air conditioners and furnaces.
4. Use dehumidifiers if the humidity in your home is over 50%. You can buy inexpensive humidity monitors to keep an eye on this number.
If you’d like to track pollen or mold counts in the area or be notified when there is a change in levels or types of allergens, you can go to
https://pollen.aaaai.org
and register to see the dashboard or receive an email notification when levels change. Monitor pollen and mold counts and stay indoors when counts are high.
